Research progress on medical high-entropy alloy implants

  • The difficulties of fractures and bone defects due to injury, infection and tumor have been widely concerned. Although human bone tissues have certain regenerative and reparative abilities, it is difficult to complete the repair of bone defects merely by relying on bone regeneration. The compatibility of the current traditional medical materials with human cells is poor, and it is imperative to develop new biomaterials with excellent mechanical properties and suitable biocompatibility to solve the negative reactions caused by long-term insertion. High entropy alloys with adaptable regulated mechanical properties and sound biocompatibility have been widely applied to new medical implant materials. Current paper investigates the current research hotspots and the progress of medical high-entropy alloy implant materials from medical high-entropy alloy design, element selection, mechanical properties and biological properties. It is promising to provide the methodological reference and theoretical support for the subsequent research of new medical high-entropy alloy implant materials.
