Performance and Application Analysis of 27SiMn Cold drawn Column Tube Material Used for Hydraulic Column after Heat Treatment

  • Addressing the industry pain points of low material utilization rate (≤85%) and long processing cycle in the manufacturing of hydraulic support columns, this article proposes an analysis of the material properties and applications based on 27SiMn high-precision cold-drawn column tubes.By systematically comparing the microstructural evolution laws of cold-drawn tubes produced by two different processes, namely, cold-drawing followed by tempering (Process A) and tempering followed by cold-drawing (Process B), and incorporating the Hall-Petch effect and dislocation strengthening theory, the mechanism behind the performance differences was revealed. The test results indicate that the cold-drawn tubes produced by Process A exhibit a uniform tempered sorbite structure, with superior plasticity and toughness compared to those produced by Process B. However, their strength is lower than that of the cold-drawn tubes produced by Process B, resulting in a more balanced overall mechanical performance of the material;Through practical application of cold-drawn tubes, it was verified that the machining allowance could be reduced from 10mm to 5mm, resulting in an increase in machining efficiency and material utilization rate of 69.3% and 10.1%, respectively.
