Microstructure and properties of mechanical cutting tool wear resistant layers prepared by wire powder synergistic arc additive manufacturing

  • Mechanical cutting tools are widely used in fields such as agricultural machinery and rail transit.A set of wire powder synergistic arc additive manufacturing system was established based on the requirements of heat source and reinforcement phase volume fraction of the wear-resistant layer.The tungsten carbide reinforced ironbased wear-resistant layers were prepared under different powder feeding gas flow rates.The microstructure and composition of the wear-resistant layer were analyzed using metallographic microscope,X-ray diffractometer,scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectrometer.The results show that when the wear resistance layer with a powder feeding gas flow rate was 8L/min,the volume fraction of reinforcement phase is 60%.And the wear resistance layer is composed of α-Fe matrix,WC and W2C particles and Fe3W3C precipitates.The matrix microhardness of the wear resistance layer is above 1000HV,and the maximum microhardness of the reinforcing phase is 2385HV.The wear resistance layer has excellent wear resistance.
