Research status of aluminum-copper alloy arc additive manufacturing technology

  • Wire-arc Additive Manufacturing(WAAM) technology has received more and more attention in contemporary manufacturing due to its advantages in the economical production of large metal components with high deposition rates. High-strength aluminum-copper alloys are widely used in the aerospace, military, and automotive industries due to their high specific strength and excellent processing capabilities. WAAM provides an effective method for the production of large, high-strength aluminum-copper alloy components, and the field is rapidly evolving. In this paper, the research progress of WAAM high-strength aluminum-copper alloy in terms of microstructure and properties, defects and post-treatment is reviewed. The results are positive in terms of the microstructure and mechanical properties of WAAM’s high-strength aluminum-copper alloys. Finally, on the basis of previous research, this paper summarizes the development prospects of WAAM high-strength aluminum-copper alloys.
