Study on microstructure and properties of titanium alloy forging

  • The forging process of TC4 titanium alloy blades is studied using DEFORM-3D numerical simulation, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of different sections after forging are analyzed. The results show that in the final state, the equivalent strain is higher in the blade body and lower in the blade root and shroud, while the equivalent stress distribution is uniform across the blade body, shroud, and root. The TC4 titanium alloy forgings produced under this process meet the technical requirements, exhibiting relatively uniform overall mechanical properties after forging. The microstructure primary equiaxial α phase and etypic β phase including acicular α phase is obtained, and the microstructure of the blade body is finer than that of the blade root and shroud.
