Abstract: In the manufacturing of bridge I-shaped steel beams, the conventional single-wire submerged arc welding process involves multiple construction steps, consumes a large amount of welding materials, and has low production efficiency. In mass production, production efficiency and cost are crucial control factors, thus making the improvement and optimization of the single-wire submerged arc welding process highly necessary. Through experiments on the double-wire submerged arc welding process with groove-free and back-gouging-free techniques, it was verified that the performance of the welded joints met the requirements of relevant specifications. This double-wire submerged arc welding process, which eliminates the need for groove preparation and back gouging, reduces production steps and saves welding materials, significantly improves the welding efficiency of I-shaped steel beams and significantly reduces manufacturing costs, achieving successful application in production.
