Abstract:
In this study, various casting processes were designed for the sand casting of valve housing components. ProCAST simulation software was employed to simulate these different processes, which were further optimized based on the simulation results to obtain the optimal casting process. The research results indicate that compared with the upright top-feeding gating system, the side-up middle-feeding gating system achieves faster and more stable filling, with fewer casting defects. On the basis of the side-up middle-feeding gating system, nearly all internal defects in the castings can be eliminated by adding three risers at the top and six chill plates at the bottom, thereby enhancing the casting quality.
